What is Pushya Nakshatra?
Pushya comes from the Sanskrit root meaning “to nourish”. Its ruling planet is Saturn (Shani), its deity is Brihaspati, and its symbol is the udder of a cow, a sign of nourishment. Traditionally, Pushya days are chosen for new beginnings, pujas, buying gold or property, starting studies, and, in Ayurveda, for giving Swarna Prashana to children. Swarna Prashana on Pushya Nakshatra
Swarna Prashana (Suvarna Prashan) is a traditional Ayurvedic preparation of purified gold (Swarna Bhasma), herbs such as Brahmi and Vacha, ghee and honey, described in the classical text Kashyapa Samhita. It is traditionally given to children on Pushya Nakshatra days to support immunity, digestion and learning. The dose depends on the child’s age and should be decided by a qualified Ayurvedic doctor.
